Football Glove Certification
Why Phenom Elite gloves are legal for high school and college play.
Quick Answer
Yes — Phenom Elite football gloves are SFIA certified, which is the standard the NFHS, the NCAA and youth leagues require for a glove to be legal in game play. Every certified glove carries the compliance mark on the glove and on its packaging.
What SFIA Certification Is
SFIA is the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. Its Football Glove & Hand Pad Specification Program sets the performance standard that keeps glove grip inside a fair, legal limit — so no player gets an unfair advantage from their equipment.
Gloves are tested against that specification. Gloves that pass carry the SFIA mark, and that mark is what an official, a coach or a retail buyer looks for.
What the Rulebooks Require
The NFHS (high school), the NCAA (college) and youth leagues including Pop Warner all require football gloves to meet a fairness-of-play standard. SFIA certification satisfies that requirement. A glove that carries the SFIA mark is legal for play at those levels.
One thing worth clearing up: a glove does not need a NOCSAE label in addition to the SFIA label. Gloves and hand pads are covered by the SFIA specification. NOCSAE standards apply to other categories of equipment.
Where to Find the Mark on Your Gloves
The compliance mark appears on the glove itself and on the packaging. If you are checking a pair before a game, that mark is what you are looking for. If an official ever asks, it is right there on the glove.

FAQ
Are Phenom Elite gloves legal for high school football?
Yes. Phenom Elite football gloves are SFIA certified, which is what the NFHS requires for a glove to be legal in high school game play.
Are Phenom Elite gloves legal for NCAA play?
Yes. The NCAA requires gloves to meet the same fairness-of-play standard, and SFIA certification satisfies it.
Are the youth gloves certified too?
Yes. Certification applies across the line, youth sizes included — not just the adult sizes.
Do football gloves need a NOCSAE label?
No. For gloves and hand pads, the SFIA label is the one that matters. A glove does not need a NOCSAE label in addition to it.
Where is the certification mark on the glove?
On the glove itself and on the packaging.
Does sticky grip make a glove illegal?
Not on its own. The specification sets a legal limit for grip, and certified gloves are tested against it. Phenom's Vapor-Stick palm is engineered to push grip right up to that legal limit — maximum tack, still legal.
Every Phenom Elite football glove is SFIA certified — legal for play under NFHS and NCAA rules.
